Peace River Wauchula, FL 2010

Here we are at Thousand Trails Peace River in Wauchula,FL. This is one of our favorite places. Nice small town and our campground is along the Peace River. It is finally warming up here in the 70's the last several days.
This is Sadie. The manager of the park,Elnor, has two black standards and Nicky has thoroughly enjoyed playing with her.

See, you can tell by the smile on Nicky's face that he thinks Miss Sadie is something.

Here they are playing ball.

Sadie also enjoys walking the trails with us.

Our good friends Lou and Carol Hands from Michigan. We've been able to fit in a couple of nights of cards, hope to get together some more before we go to our next destination.

This is a picture of Ed and Janie Jenkins. They are the former owners of our RV. Ed is the campground pastor and has packed their meeting house. That is Miss Molly Ed is holding.
They will be in Pennsylvania this coming summer so we hope to get to see them sometime over the summer.

We went to Lake Placid with Jim and Tracy Tull and their daughter, Tandy. It was a beautiful day and we had a lovely lunch in town.

Here's the four of us in front of one of our favorite murals.

All the walls in the town have a mural on them. All the murals tell you something about the history of the town. You learn a lot if you use the guide book and the history behind each mural. As you can see they even decorate the trash cans.

This is one of my favorite murals. When the sun shines on this it is incredible.

This is a mural in the process, one that has been added since we were last there.

This is another new one.

They started in the 90's and now the city is truly the city of murals.

This is Keith Goodson, artist. He just finished restoring this mural and was putting on the protective coating on it the day we were there. The coating runs $75.00 a gallon. Keith has also done many originals here and other places.

This is Harriet Porter with Jim and Tracy. Harriet is President of the Lake City Mural Society. She explained to us that the mural they are standing in front of costs about $5,000. They must be re coated about every 5-8 years also. The Lake City Mural Society works strictly off donations no tax money is used. That's impressive when you realize the costs involved.

Thought you might get a kick out the this signage.

This is a full view of that $5,000 mural.

This is Friday night Live in Wauchula, FL. Every third Friday they shut down Main street and have an event. Each time with a different theme. This week it was Wauchula Idol. Ten contestants competed for the winner of Wauchla Idol. They also had antique cars on display.

This is Sylvia one of the contestants.

Here's Jim checking out one of the cars.

Tony, winner of the Wauchula Idol contest.
