May 20th the last day of our cruise and we are off to Paris. The trip there will be 3 hours. This is a cruise excursion because we wanted to be sure to be back in time. We did not want that ship leaving without us --because tomorrow I get to hug my Jane. On the trip there, we passed beautiful green countryside. They must have a lot of dairy products judging from the amount of cows we saw. There is a cream colored cow quite distinct to their area that has black circles around their eyes that makes them look like they are wearing glasses. They allowed us one toilet break on the way there because the guide said that in the city we would find very few public toilets.
That first sight of the city is so spectacular it doesn't seem real.

I have never seen so many statues!!!

We only had 4 hours to spend walking around the city. We really couldn't even take in the outside of the Louvre in that length of time.
I couldn't resist the picture below!

Can you just imagine how many days it would take to even touch the surface inside.

Archway into the Louvre.

My neck was aching by the end of the day. You look at a building and then you just sort of work your way up, looking at the many statues all over the building.

Lee picked up this lost looking country girl along the way!! As you can tell we had another lovely day. It was really quite warm in the city.

One of the entries into The Louvre.

It doesn't matter whether it is a bridge or building it will be highlighted with statues.

Every time you turned your head around a surprize stared back at you.

Notre Dam Cathedral

You could spend hours looking at all the details over every square inch of this church.

There is no charge to go in and the line moves along very quickly and orderly. One of the few places to use public toilets are located around the corner. The line was terrific to the public toilets there were tons of children there on field trips the day we were there.

Notre Dam Cathedral in all it's splendar.

There is no way to get the detail in pictures.

We did take a boat ride down the Seine river because that is the only way we could get an overview of the city. Above is one of the many theaters.

Never have I seen such unique bridges. Yes, we have lots of unique bridges but these bridges are works of art.

I know you all recognize this!! How many movies have had this in it?

Other than foot the main means of transportation through the city and back and forth to work seems to be bikes.
Walkers beware they don't always warn you they are about to go around you.
As you walk along the crowded streets you must be mindful of the smokers as they are everywhere and you are packed so closely together.

Fine Arts building, isn't it incredible?

We walked for 4 hours straight and never stopped for a drink or food. We took one toilet break that was all.
After 4 hours of trying to pack so much in we were exausted and dragged our bottoms onto the bus to face the 3 hour drive back to the ship.
The city is very noisy, the traffic through the city was heavy and the police sirens were going constantly. We even got to see one police chase right past us. We did not find that people there made much of an attempt to interact with visiters to the city.
Due to the constirction of time I only got a glimpse of the Ark of Triumph on our way out of the city on the bus.
We arrived back at the ship very thirsty, hungry and dog tired. We did not even attend the show that night. We did have Baked Alaska at dinner that night which temporarily brought us back to life.
The next blog I post will mark the end of our Crossing. What an adventure we've had!!!

We crossed this bridge on the way home and the guide tried to tell us it was as spectacular as the San Francisco bridge. I don't think so!!!!!
