From what I've been told the Duke of Warwick lost the castle in a bet. The castle is today privately owned and operated. Jim says it is the oldest fully operational castle in England.
To take this shot I was in the castle tower 581 steps up. Congratulations Stella (my name for my knee replacement).

Inside the castle, the rooms have various figures and stories to tell about life in the castle.The artwork and accessories were beautiful.
Of course, when the Queen knew I was in town, she invited us to high tea!!!!!
There is a waterwheel down there that used to generate the electricity for the castle.
See every one's necks stretching up? The ceilings had all kinds of detail.
This guy was a phenomenal history teacher. He took us thorough all the Kings of England and did it with such flare and humor.
We watched a jousting match. Similar to what we see at the Renaissance fair in Pennsylvania.
